Spicy Way to Lose Weight

ADDING CHILLI or jalapeno peppers to your food could help you to burn a few extra calories and a bit more fat. Researchers at the University of California added a compound called dihydrocapsiate or DCT, a spicy hot substance found in peppers, to meals to see if it had any positive effect for dieters. In theory, they thought, it might heat up the body causing it to burn a few extra calories. And it worked. Professor David Heber who led the study said that the boost from the spice was modest, but resulted in an extra 100 calories a day being burned by women (200 by men) with a slight rise in fat-burning too. Previously, researchers have shown that chilli peppers can boost metabolism and dampen appetite.
